Fiercely inclusive
Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and included. That's true for the people who work with us, the people we support, and everyone in the communities we serve. Inclusion isn't a policy on a shelf. It's something we build through everyday action and we all have our part to play.
Showing up for all
We believe in a just and fair Western Australia, where everyone can thrive. Our Diversity and Inclusion Roadmap 2026–2030 guides Anglicare WA’s long-term commitment to building environments where people of all identities, backgrounds and lived experiences can belong.
We've included focused actions to strengthen inclusion and equity for:
- People who identify as LGBTQIA+
- People from migrant, multicultural and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds
- Women in the workforce (gender equity)
- People with disability*
- People who identify as neurodivergent*
*The Roadmap features an embedded Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) that aligns with WA state government DAIP outcomes.
Guided by lived experience
Our work is strengthened by the voices and experiences of our people and communities.
People experience the world differently, and barriers can overlap and compound. We know inclusion is not a one-size-fits-all, which is why we ensure that our approach is intersectional, people-centred and informed by lived experience.
We bring this to life through two pieces of work that complement each other.
- Our Diversity and Inclusion Roadmap supports our commitment to respecting and including people of all backgrounds and identities across our workforce, especially those who face barriers to inclusion.
- Our Lived Experience (Peer) Framework nurtures and strengthens our Lived Experience (Peer) workforce. This is a professional discipline involving workers who purposefully draw on their own adverse life experiences to better walk alongside clients and communities facing similar challenges.
The Diversity and Inclusion Roadmap is designed to sit alongside our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and honours First Nations ways of knowing, being and doing. We centre the importance of moving at the pace of trust, in order to create space for deep listening and shared learning. We work alongside internal Advisory Groups, workers with lived experience, and external partners to shape inclusive practice and drive continuous improvement.
How we're making it real
Our Roadmap is guided guided by five priorities:
- We're data-driven. We use evidence, feedback and insights.
- We listen deeply and remove systemic barriers. This allows us to create psychologically safe environments.
- We build our people's capability. Everyone at Anglicare WA is supported to understand inclusion and confidently put it into practice every day.
- We show up and speak up. We celebrate diversity and community in our culture and communications.
- We take targeted action where it's needed most. We run focused initiatives for communities who face the greatest barriers, so no one is left behind by a generic approach.
Easy English
Easy English uses simple words, short sentences and images to make information easier to understand.
It is designed to improve accessibility for people who find English difficult.
Putting it all in action
The Roadmap sets our direction, while our dedicated Action Plan sets out the practical projects and initiatives that support us in delivering on our commitments outlined in the Roadmap. Diversity and inclusion is an ongoing journey. Through this Roadmap, Anglicare WA is committed to accountability, cultural safety, accessibility, and equity now and into the future.
